Eminent doctors, orthopaedic surgeons & physiotherapists participated in an interactive seminar to guide patients, families & caregivers. The seminar touched lives of more than 200 attendees, enlightening them with the processes of detection, treatment & rehabilitation of patients.
With incidents of violence against women soaring in an alarming rate throughout the country, endowing females with the voice of protest, ensuing confidence & ensuring protection is a necessity to be addressed. Women deprived of education and living in the fringes of society need awareness on women safety, women rights, gender equality & legalities.
To give voices to the urban slum dwelling women & their everyday struggles, Nirmaan had organised an interactive Women Empowerment Workshop on 7th March, 2020 at Andul Community Centre. Women’s Commission & NHRO Members mentored 70 women & girls to fight against oppression or harassment both indoor & outdoor by sharing
At Nirmaan, we are trying to make a change in the grassroot scene by not just trying to spread cross- population awareness about social evils like consumption of tobacco, but also taking active measure in quitting strategies. In addition to our round-the-year digital campaign targeted towards more urban & tech savvy youth, we have conducted periodic workshops among women and youth from slums to engage in discourse, counsel & motivate them to win over indulgences in tobacco, both smoking & smokeless. The workshops have been successful in triggering conversation & discuss weakness openly among slum dwellers as the initial stage of quitting addiction.
Healthy living is no more about mere physical wellness but more so about Psychological well-being, which is gradually becoming the latest goodness mantra. To understand the nature of well being & exercise the same for better living , NIRMAAN organized a series of Psychological Wellness Workshop for separate age groups (Pre Adolescent Pubertal, Pre Marital, Married without children, Married with Children). The interactive sessions were mentored by skilled professional associated with Mental Health Foundation and sought to understand the individual psychological needs. Guiding the nearly 100+ participants towards better future, it covered topics like
Women Health feature as one of the primary development goal. To sensitize mass about this issue & seek solution, Nirmaan organized a free Women’s Health Camp at our Andul community centre with the facilities ranging from overall health check-up to Breast cancer & Cervical cancer detection tests. As a part of the sensitization initiative, the event hosted a special talk by a veteran Gynaecologist from a super-speciality hospital to address health related queries of women and discuss topics especially associated with cancer & nutrition which benefitted more than 150 women in attendance.
In Nirmaan, celebration starts with the joy of sharing. As our country continues to regress in Global Hunger Index, Team Nirmaan came up with the idea of spreading the festive cheers with periodic Food Distribution Camps among the needy. More than 1000 packets filled with warmth & love is shared among the slum kids & destitute across the country to mark every major festival throughout the year, spreading happiness & health to brighten the festive colours in its truest sense.
Human rights done right! To celebrate World Human Rights Day, Nirmaan donated Ambulance to Durgapur Correctional Home in 2019 for better medical services of prison inmates.
