However, in spite of robust economic growth spectrum, housing poverty in both urban & rural pockets of India has remained a pertinent development challenge. The 2012 data pegged by government estimates around 63.67 million citizens and counting across the country without adequate housing.

Low Cost Housing

Naturally, creating an inclusive & resilient safe space for all is reckoned as one of the key Sustainable Development Goals. However, in spite of robust economic growth spectrum, housing poverty in both urban & rural pockets of India has remained a pertinent development challenge. The 2012 data pegged by government estimates around 63.67 million citizens and counting across the country without adequate housing.

In this scenario, where the sky-rocketing price of housing projects have strained the 'sweet home' dreams of majority, Nirmaan has stepped in as a catalyst of change to build the dreams of the impoverished, Below Poverty Line people. Our rural intervention of pro-poor low cost housing operational since 2018 in line with the government mission of 'Housing For All by 2022', is all about designing, developing & constructing the foundation of a secure establishment for the low-income group. With this motto, 50+ eco-friendly houses have been built in the villages of Durgapur & Nashik in the first phase of the project to benefit the tribal & economically backward population. The 370sqft RCC roofed houses, fully equipped with attached toilet, solar power & ground water facility, have provided permanent residence to 200+ beneficiaries living in informal settlements until now.

Impact

While significantly improving living conditions of the beneficiaries by providing shelter with running water & sanitation facilities, the houses have empowered the children in the family with stability & hospitable environment for education and provided a secure environment for women, contributing towards building a better future in last 2 years. This financial year, we aim to extend the venture with 50+ more housings to create a safe haven for the needy.
