Amphan Relief

As an effort to cater to the people ravaged by Super Cyclone Amphan, Nirmaan initiated the Amphan Relief Drive as a disaster response activity. The Relief Drive not only aimed to provide dry rationing in the affected areas but also to safeguard destitutes sheltered in relief camps or temporary shanties from Covid 19 & other infectious disease spread. While the phase-wise Safety Drives carried out across Kolkata slum areas & interiors of South Bengal provided protective supplies including Mask, Gloves, Soaps & Bleaching Powders to more than 2500+ beneficiaries, the Relief Drives reached out with Dry Food & Ration supplies in the affected locations.

Going beyond the temporary reliefs & acting upon restoration to ward off natural calamities as a part of sustainable disaster response activity, Nirmaan launched a Tree Plantation Program to revive the green cover of Kolkata. As the Cyclonic storm uprooted more than 10000+ trees in Kolkata resulting in lesser oxygen production, Nirmaan pledged to revive the ecological balance by planting 1000 trees within the financial year 2019-20. The activity started on 8th June 2019 and is being conducted phase-wise throughout India.
